AM: 20.5 miles, most with Elia pacing him on the St. Pete marathon.  I can't really call them fast, but about 10 were in the 6:40-6:50 range.  Really liked trying to help him, even though I failed overall.

Hit my 5 year anniversary on this blog, which is kind of cool.  Amazing to think I wasn't even running anything over 5 miles really back then, and now a 5-mile day feels like a recovery.  I still remember bringing a gel on my first "long run" with Drew thinking it was needed.  Heh.  I must say I'm happy to have developed this habit of posting on here, although I'm not sure it will continue much longer.  I definitely appreciate how I went from a hobby walk-out-the-door-and-run-whatever-distance to.... Well, actually, I'm pretty much still that way.  At least now I've found some consistency in my workouts, mileage, and effort.  I just never vibed with the "running plan" thing.  The moment it's written down what I have to do, I just have lost all interest within the next moment.  Weird.  Cheers to winging it!

so as soon as i pass you on the yearly mileage board you're saying you won't be posting much longer? i didn't realize i was that imposing :)

i write a new training regimen out at least once a week. maybe i'd have done more than 10 workouts over the past year if i could actually stick to a plan!

Wow, 5 years! You have come a long way! Pleasure having you here, it is becoming a blog of the committed FRB'ers now...hope you stay. This blog is not sexy but it is easy and a great way to stay in touch with other runners/friends in an easy interface and one that does not set up arbitrary competition when it does not need to. Keep running strong and good luck at Gasparilla!

Gasparilla Distance Classic. Mike I am old enough to have run in the inaugural event in 1978. The race was won by Bill Rodgers as I recall, and my father caught a photo of him in the race which he later got autographed - (and it is in my basement somewhere now). The ceremonial starter was Yankee owner - George Steinbrenner.

Enjoy the race - had lots of good ones there.

I've enjoyed following your success over the last 5 years, Mike. I hope you continue, but I get it.
